This article provides an overview about your Whitman username and password, also known as your “Whitman Network Account”:  what it is, the available resources that come with it, Whitman how to activate it and reset its password.

What is a Whitman Network Account (username and password)

A Whitman Network Account is a unique username and password that is given to Whitman community members, which includes faculty, staff and students, that gives them access to a variety of resources that helps community members digitally navigate and complete assignments, tasks, and work.. 

Activating Your Account

To access your Whitman email and other online services, you must activate your Whitman account. Similar to the picture below, during activation, you will receive your username and password, which are required to access the Whitman network and associated systems. 


Activating your account step-by-step: 

  • Incoming Student Welcome Email

When you’re accepted and enrolled, Whitman sends a message to your personal (non-Whitman) email with the subject: “Welcome to Whitman College! Claim your account.” or similar to that.
This email contains instructions and a link to start your account activation.

  • Activation Steps
  1. Visit the activation page via the provided link in the email
  2. Read and agree to terms and conditions
  3. Enter your First Name, Last Name and Whitman ID number 
  4. Reset your password. 
  1. Additional Setup Steps
  1.  Upload a photo for your student ID card 
  2. Record accurate pronunciation of your name

Your account gives you access to:

  • Campus Wi-Fi
  • Calendar & Email
  • File storage & Collaboration (via office 365, google Drive, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Canvas
  • Printing services
  • Campus Card Services
  • Finance and academics (via whitman-self-service)
  • Other resources. (eg: MyWhitman, Penrose Library resources, Outdoor program, Lab and classroom computers etc…)

Changing or Resetting Your Account Password

You can change or reset your Whitman password using one of the two platforms:

  1. My Whitman portal if you know your current password 
  2. Rapid Identity if you have forgotten your password
