Meeting OWL Not Working

Meeting OWL Not Working

Meeting OWL not recognized by Zoom?

  1. Is the USB cable labeled “USB Cams” or “Meeting OWL” plugged into a USB port? These cables should have USB adapters attached. If it’s not, plug it in and check Zoom to see if you can select “Meeting OWL” for audio and video. If not, move to the next step.

  2. Unplug the OWL, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. The easiest way to do this is to find the power brick (usually lying on the ground) and unplug it.

    1. After plugging it back in, you should see the lights (looks like owl eyes). This signifies that it’s receiving power and is calibrating. It will be ready for use after the owl “hoots” three times.

    2. If, after the previous step, it’s not receiving power, check the power connection on the bottom of the OWL. Unplug and replug (it’s tricky) and wait for the lights and “hoots” as referenced in the previous step. If this doesn’t work, proceed to the next step

  3. Unplug the USB micro connection located underneath the OWL. This can be tricky, but doable. Simply unplug the cable, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in. Wait for the lights and the “hoots.” Check the Zoom application to see if “Meeting OWL” is a selectable option for audio and video. If not, proceed to final step.

  4. Restart the computer, log back in, launch Zoom and see if the OWL is recognized. If it’s not, then please contact Help Desk at extension 4976
