I want to move only my Resources folder to Canvas.
I want to move my entire course (Assignments, Forums, Tests & Quizzes, etc.) to Canvas.
I want to back up my courses and migrate them later.
How do I download my email archive?
Can you migrate my course for me?

You can download and upload your CLEo Resources folder in two ways: 1.) using WebDAV/Cyberduck and 2.) downloading your course Resources in using Common Cartridge format. The first method allows you to open and see the folders and files in your course on your computer desktop easily. The second method generates a file that can be imported into Canvas to replicate the directory folder and file structure of your current CLEo Resources folder. Please be aware that hyperlinks to external websites cannot be downloaded or migrated. You will need to recreate these in Canvas separatelymanually.
WebDav/Cyberduck Method
- Log in to your CLEo site and navigate to Resources.
- Click the "Transfer Files" tab and follow the instructions for your operating system (Windows, Mac, etc)
- The resulting folder on your desktop can be uploaded into Canvas using the Files tool in any of your courses. You can also upload content to your general Canvas account for easy access in multiple courses.

- Go to your Canvas course where you want to upload the CLEo course content.

You can migrate all course content except student work to a new Canvas site. Be aware that you will need to adjust due dates, etc. This will recreate your assignments, forums, and many other tools in your Canvas site. You can also use this method more than once to add additional course content to a Canvas site later. For most content, use the Common Cartridge method below. Also, if you use the Syllabus tool, save your syllabus in the CLEo Resources folder if you wish to migrate it. The Syllabus tool in CLEo cannot be moved directly to Canvas. For Tests & Quizzes, you will also have need to separately download these as a QTI file, and then upload this file into Canvas. Please be aware that hyperlinks to external websites cannot be downloaded or migrated. You will need to recreate these in Canvas manually.
Common Cartridge Method
- Log in to your CLEo site and navigate to Site Info.
- Click the Manage Tools tab and make sure "Lessons" is checked. Add If it's not, then check it to add the Lessons tool.
- On the sidebar Menu, go to the Lessons tool.
- Click Other Tools > Export CC > Use newest version and then download the file.
- Go to your Canvas course where you want to upload the CLEo course content.
- Click Settings on the course left sidebar menu, then Import Course Content on the right sidebar menu.
- Set the content type to Common Cartridge, choose the file you just downloaded from CLEo, and import. You're done!
- You will probably want to delete the empty "Lesson" module on your Canvas course main page now.

Tests & Quizzes cannot be migrated using Common Cartridge, so you will need to download an additional file to migrate them. On your Tests & Quizzes page in CLEo, use the Action dropdown menu and choose "Export" to generate the QTI file that can be imported into Canvas. The import process is the same as for Common Cartridge (see above), except that you will choose QTI as your content type.
Other Tips
- You can also upload content into Google Drive and access your Google Drive from within Canvas.
- We recommend storing video and audio in Google Drive for superior media streaming. Save your syllabus in the Resources folder if you wish to migrate it. The Syllabus tool in CLEo cannot be moved directly to Canvas. in YouTube and displaying it within Canvas. You can also store videos in Google Drive and embed them.

You can use any of the methods above to save a back-up of your course content on your computer. Course content can be downloaded from CLEo at any time, and you can add additional content to your Canvas courses at any time. We recommend storing multiple copies of important work in separate locations, e.g. one copy on your computer, one in the cloud (Google / OneDrive) and one on an external hard drive. Course content and project sites will remain accessible on CLEo at least until Fall 2020 (possibly beyond. Technology Services will make very clear announcements when a firm CLEo "shut down" date is determined.)
